Washington, DC – During the American Association for Justice (AAJ) annual convention, the world's largest trial bar announced Les Weisbrod as President for 2008-2009. As a top civil justice attorney, Weisbrod will lead the organization's fight to ensure every American can seek justice through our courts.
"Les Weisbrod's passionate leadership and unwavering commitment to protecting the civil justice system and fighting for deserving Americans will be extremely valuable in helping guide AAJ in the year ahead," said Kathleen Flynn Peterson, the association's outgoing president and partner at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P in Minneapolis, MN. “Weisbrod will serve a key role in AAJ's effort to build a strong civil justice system that allows individuals to receive justice and hold wrongdoers accountable."
A partner in the Dallas law firm of Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod, Weisbrod represents individuals and families who have experienced serious injury or death as a result of negligence or product defect. Weisbrod’s verdict against Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where his client was left a quadriplegic as a result of negligent care, was reported as one of the 100 most important verdicts in the United States by National Law Journal in 2003.
"AAJ champions the vital role the civil justice system plays in our society. The very essence of our courts is the constitutional right of all Americans to a trial by jury," said Weisbrod. An AAJ member for 28 years, Weisbrod has held numerous leadership position’s within the organization. Among his many notable positions, Weisbrod has served as president of the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, on the AAJ Board of Governors since 1998, the Executive Committee of AAJ since 2001, and most recently as President-Elect. Weisbrod was also the founding Co-Chair of AAJ's Birth Trauma Litigation Group in 1991, founding Co-Chair of AAJ’s Medical Negligence Litigation Group in 1999 and Chair of AAJ’s Professional Negligence Section in 1996.
Weisbrod received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1975 from Claremont Men's College and his J.D. in 1978 from Southern Methodist University Law School.
